Last Nite :((((

someone lost their life across the street from my house. 4 shots and then silence and then the sound of people rushing the scene to see what happened. If you have never experienced or lived in an area where shootings are like the air you breathe everyday...you can't imagine the feeling. That feeling is even worsened when you have children.
I have children.
2 beautiful bright rays of sunshiny goodness that live amongst the madness that makes up New York. Don't get me wrong. I don't live Boyz in the Hood styles but random shootings are a very real part of life in my neighborhood. Just this past Sunday I was in Brownsville ( a part of New York that to me is like the Wild Wild West) visiting and when I walked out to go home I saw a three car pile up. Being the nosey person that I am, I walked over to see what was what. There were police and a local news camera there. i heard people talking about what happened. "I saw dude get pulled out of the car. He got shot in the head and was trying to get away but didn't know he was shot in the head and ended up crashing into 2 cars head on." This coming from a young lady who could not have been more that 14. She said it with such calmness. It was weird but I understood the calm. When you live and breathe that type of atmosphere it's a normal to you as water. There was another lady who was there and the only thing she was concerned about was the fact that she had called the local news and the news guy was not interested in putting her on camera. People are crazy I thought. Then I thought, Bitch you are just as crazy for being right over here, all up in it, observing. Right after that though process, I got the hell outta dodge.

I wonder what's gonna happen next in my neighborhood, on my block. Are the Hey Ma's and the yo Sexi's ever gonna learn the violence and thuggery are not cool or cute or any bit progressive? This can't be life but for many of them it is. It saddens and scares me. It really does.

Bock Bock Bock Bock
4 shots rang out
then he dropped
to the streets that he loved
from his bike he fell in the dark
Oh My God
Oh My God
people flood
puddles of blood
yo yo yo somebody call 911
cops come
yo somebody call 911
no movement
only tears
people screaming
fears
was it hey sexi
or
yo ma
was it the young boy on the block
who grew up from little to the man who now sells rocks?
whoever it was they are dead from 4 shots

Jay Z said it best when he rapped this:
